With our guide's local knowledge, we'll explore secret spots that are off the typical tourist radar.
As the group photographer, I'll capture the trip on camera and send you home with a grip of Insta-worthy photos and a professionally edited video.
These Beafoot trips are an absolute blast. You'll laugh ALOT, see some of the world's most beautiful sights, and get inspired and reenergized.
Down in Patagonia (and on all of their other trips), G Adventures chooses to work with small, locally owned businesses rather than big international chains. This means we'll be staying in local hotels, dining in local restaurants, and using local transportation. Not only will you be getting an authenic experience, your travel dollars will directly strengthen and support the local people and communities that we'll be interacting with.
G Adventures established a non-profit organization, Planeterra, that has provided millions of dollars to social, conservation, and community development projects in the regions they operate tours. This means the communities in places like Patagonia have a greater capacity to sustainably manage their land and protect their natural resources.
Tour name and detailed itinerary overview: Hike Patagonia In Depth Dates: November 17-30, 2018 Departure and Return point: Buenos Aires, Argentina Deposit due when booking: $250 USD Total cost: $3,999 USD Final payment due: August 17, 2018
The trip is demanding, and you should be capable of hiking for long periods of time with sections of up and down hill. On the W Trek we will have some big days, including one 15 mile day. During the trek porters will be provided to transport your luggage, so all you have to carry is your daypack. If you commit to the trip early on, you'll have plenty of time to build up your hiking muscles, and I'm happy to provide resources to help you prepare.
G Adventures has a detailed gear list on their website. Basics include lots of warm layers, windproof rain gear, good hiking shoes, and a 30 liter daypack for the trek. I also suggest trekking poles, which are available for rent if you don't have or want to travel with them. Camping gear on the W Trek will be provided.
November is considered early summer in Patagonia. Temperatures tend to be mild (daytime average highs in the upper 50s), and nights can be very cool. The advantage of November is fewer crowds and beautiful spring blooms. Weather that far south however, is unpredictable and you should be prepared for anything.
Yes! Most definitely. This is the 4th Bearfoot Theory exlusive tour I've offered, and on each tour there's been a large number of solo travelers, including ME! Friends, couples, and family members are also totally welcome. We just ask that everyone in the group be 18 or older.
The trip cost includes all in-country transportation, local flights, double accomodations, guided hikes, 4 nights of camping on the W trek, a full-day rafting excursion, porters, camping equipment, and some meals.
You are responsible for international flights to Buenos Aires, and we require that everyone on the trip have travel insurance that includes medical evacuation. There are some meals that aren't covered, and G Adventures recommends budgeting about $500 for additional meals. We love pairing solo travelers up at hotels, but if you prefer your own room, there is a single supplement. Tips for guides are not mandatory, but if you are stoked at the end of the trip, a $40-50 tip per person is recommended. Finally, there are a few reasonably priced optional excursions detailed on the G Adventures website.
