Summertime’s a-comin’, and nothings better than kicking back in a comfy hammock with an ice cold beer in hand while enjoying a warm gentle breeze. Luckily Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO), a company based out of North Carolina, has got one of those bases covered with their diverse line of hammocks.
I’ve owned ENO’s DoubleNest Hammock for several years now, and it has become a staple at my favorite music festivals, at local parks, and sometimes even on backpacking trips. In fact, many backpackers have replaced their tent all together with one of ENO’s hammocks and report having a far superior night’s rest.
ENO’s hammocks are made of breathable nylon that keeps you from overheating on those warm summer days. It also dries quickly and comes with an attached compression sack, making for easy packing. And most importantly, it’s extremely comfortable…so good luck getting out!
How to set it up
The ENO DoubleNest hammock comes ready to hang with two aluminum carabiners attached to each end. All you have to do is find two trees that are far enough apart, wrap some rope around, and attach the carabiners. However, if you are anything like me, knots aren’t your speciality, and hanging a hammock might seem more confusing than it actually is. To solve this problem, ENO sells the Atlas Hammock Suspension system that makes setting up the hammock a cinch. I recently purchased these, and they have changed my world. These lightweight straps are 9 feet long and consist of a series of loops. You simply wrap the strap around the tree, slide the length of the strap through the loop on the other end, and attach the carabiner at the desired place. With the help of these straps, you can have your hammock up and running in less than 2 minutes.
In addition to the DoubleNest, ENO also sells a single person hammock, hammocks specifically designed for camping, and a Double Deluxe Hammock that can accommodate two bigger beings.
